Tommy Hilfiger and Broward Community School Conduct Job Fair

Tommy Hilfiger and Broward Community School conducted a first ever Job Fair resulting in 21 ESOL – ABE/GED students finding employment. Future activities include additional Job Fairs and career presentations on topics such as Welcome to the World of Retail, Interviewing Skills and Customer Service. Broward Community School is committed to helping ABE/GED students find a pathway to employment. They are pleased to work with Tommy Hilfiger on this initiative and encourage others to get involved in similar programs. Peace, Love and Pride Day at Maplewood Elementary School

Peace, Love and Pride Day at Maplewood Elementary School

On November 3, 2012, Maplewood Elementary hosted its first Peace, Love and Pride Day from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the school. It was a day for Maplewood friends, families, students, staff, and Partners In Education to come together for a day of campus enrichment projects. More than 200 people rolled-up their sleeves and worked together to undertake projects such as mulching and landscaping, painting a mural, planting and prepping an edible Peace Garden, sprucing up the front office, and organizing classroom projects for teachers. The event ended with a celebration in the cafeteria, where food and drinks were available. The business/community partners that participated included: Home Depot, Wells Fargo, Yogurt Ur Way, Kohl’s, AXA Equitable, Moe’s Southwest Grill, KAWA Orthodontics, Joe’s Pizza and Pasta, Firehouse Subs, Western High School, Ramblewood Middle School NJHS, Broward Education Foundation, Wells Fargo, and CAS Unlimited. Maplewood looks forward to hosting its second annual Peace, Love and Pride Day next year!
